The 2024 Elections Calendar provides every essential date, time and deadline for Candidates, Election Officials, Poll Clerks, and Early, Absentee and Election Day Voters.
Key dates:
January 1-May 8
Absentee Ballot Applications for the May 14 Primary Election may be submitted to the County Clerk.
January 8-27
Candidate filing period for the May 14 Primary Election. Certificate of Candidacy and fee must be received in the office of the County Clerk or postmarked no later than 11:59 pm January 27.
March 26
Election Commissioners, Poll Clerks and Alternates appointed by County Commission.
Deadline for filing as Write-in Candidate for Board of Education.
March 29-May 8
County Clerk mails Absentee Ballots to voters from whom they have received Absentee Ballot Applications.
April 1
High School Voter Registration Day at PCHS.
April 15 (within 30 days of Primary Election)
Instructional Training for Election Officials.
April 18-24
Publication of Sample Ballot for Early Voting.
April 23
Voter Registration Deadline.
May 1-11
Early Voting in person. Last day to vote early is Saturday, May 11.
May 7-14
County Clerk receives requests for Emergency Absentee Ballot.
May 14
Primary Election Day. Polls open at 6:30am and close at 7:30pm.
July 1
New members of Board of Education take office.
August 13 (deadline)
County Commission notifies Executive Committee of number of Election Officials needed.
August 13-October 30
Absentee Ballot Applications for the November 5 General Election may be submitted to the County Clerk.
September 17 (deadline)
Election Commissioners, Poll Clerks and Alternates appointed.
Last day to file as a Write-in candidate for any office to be filled at the General Election.
September 20-October 30
County Clerk mails Absentee Ballots to voters from whom they have received Absentee Ballot Applications.
October 7 (within 30 days of General Election)
Instructional Training for Election Officials.

Publication of Sample Ballot for Early Voting.
